The National Prevention Science Coalition (NPSC) edited a representative statement answering “What is Prevention Science”, to reflect the current thinking in the field. It had been endorsed by EUSPR as by many other organisations. Recently NPSC suggested a subtle change which we also endorsed, content with this much needed nuance. Specifically, rather than referring to substance misuse or abuse, we are using the convention, Substance Use Disorder (SUD), which subsumes all aspects of substance use that are problematic.

Culture of Prevention, a difficult concept to define but important to protect Public Health. If we have learned nothing else from COVID, prevention should be paramount.
